Events done to date:
7/10/2010 The Omnium - 2nd Place Omnium - Took my first spill. Its inevitable in cycling I guess. You just hope it's as tame and recoverable as this one turned out to be. Funny cause there has been a ton of debate about shaving and then this happened.
6/22/2010 Working Man's Madison - 3rd overall - CK did a write up at Working Man's Madison
6/26/2010 Tour de Gaps KOM - 1st in TT and 2nd in Circuit Race
6/12/2010 Rome TT - 3rd 13.95 miles in 37:15mins avg 212.47mph
6/05/2010 Cherokee Road Race - 17th out of 35
5/15/2010 Gainesville TT - 3rd 12.22 miles in 33:40mins avg 21.74mph
5/08/2010 The Keirin - 9th out of 15.
5/02/2010 Sandy Springs Criterium - 15th place. Middle of the road for my crit experiences so far. Better field (all Cat 5 and not as huge as Roswell), but definitely more difficult course as it contains several hills. I finished (not yanked) in the 1st chase group after falling out of lead group. The day was hot and windy. Barricades fell over due to the winds. Startling at first, but when you realized it wasn't a wreck you were coming up on or into, it was business as usual.
4/25/2010 Historic Roswell Criterium - Living large from the Athen's high I decided to register for Roswell. I originally wasn't registered cause I wasn't sure how i would feel after Athen's. This proved to be much more difficult despite the better weather. The field was larger and I got dropped. No place cause they eventually yanked us. I did stick around to race the Fixed Gear Crit and redeemed myself with a second place!
4/24/2010 Athens Twilight Criterium - 17th place. Wet rainy, slick, sharp turns...loved it. I was originally freaking out as the time got closer, but when I got out there that all melted away. I stayed with the lead group avoiding the flats and the wrecks as we navigated the streams and puddles. Drafting was a challenge due to the water flinging up from the back tire of the person in front of you. My glasses fogged and eventually I went without. All in all a great first criterium experience. Can't wait till next year.
4/16/2010 Gainesville 200K - 4th to finish, 197 Miles, 13:21 hours including 5 stops w/ 12101ft climbing avg 16.21 mph across 2 states Route
4/14/2010 Track Update - gonna differ to Twotone's write up. I did after all steal his picture. Thanks Twotone! Team Results have been posted as well. Faster Mustache currently stands in 4th place! Look out Twotone and Stafford of Kazane Racing. We are gunning for you.
4/10/2010 Chickamauga Time Trial - Rode up with the Kid (Jim) ~2 1/2 hours for a 30 minute race. My late registration got me the first start time slot. I didn't really have any time to warm up so it was a cold start. The route was a about 14 miles out and back. To come back you had to pull a U-turn which I have discovered I need to practice at speed as I almost slid out and scared the official on the motorcycle. It was a small field for my category, but in the end I enjoyed myself and got 3rd. I look forward to the next TT in Gainesville with Jim providing my work allows for it.
4/07/2010 TRACK SEASON STARTED!!! - Great night. Go fast and lean left! Follow my results
4/03/2010 April Fool's Alley Cat - Tied for 2nd with 'Kan de Man' Dan. Very fun race that I would say all of us pretty much rode the longest route we could due to the trickiness of finding Woodruff Plaza. Ohhh and can I just say I only run when chased... What a checkpoint, both hidden and treacherous. http://atlantaalleycatseries.blogspot.com/
3/27/2010 Gainesville 200K - My buddy kept ranting bout the scenery and that this was the one to make. Still windy, but it warmed up nicely and the scenery was definitely majestic around Lake Rabun. We went we saw and we conquered Burton Dam Road! We finished in 9:18. Some of the turns are unmarked and that definitely got us. We added about 8 miles when we missed a turn.
3/06/2010 Sopo BH 6 - Second to finish, 6th corrected... Some times it pays to get the tattoo. So much fun and congratulations to the overall winner our very own Dan McCauley!
2/27/2010 ATL Black History Alley Cat - D for done...got lost on the college Campus. Love this race though cause it always has unique stops that most likely you have never been to before. Its not another race to your local bike shop.
2/06/2010 Augusta Brevet 200K - In one word....Windy...But awesome. My first Brevet so wasn't sure what to expect. Randonneuring isn't a race by any means, but i couldn't help but push myself to not only beat the time allotted, but to try and stay with the lead pack. I eventually couldn't fight the wind and got dropped by the first two in the lead. A third passed. I caught up with one of the original guys i was riding with and we went on to finish together as third finishers with a time of 08:25.
1/23/2010 Tri-state Polo Pick-up Party - Who doesn't like going to Savannah. Ohh and did i mention it was two days of Bike Polo!
