Brian Tester wins Rider of the Year at Dick Lane Velodrome, Team places 2nd!

The 2011 track racing calender has come to an end. After six intense months of racing, Brian Tester has emerged as the Rider of the Year. This is Brian's inaugural season with Faster Mustache and he has proven to be the quickest rider on the track squad. After winning the B group Rider of the Year in 2005, Brian moved up to the A group and has quickly grown to be one of the fastest local sprinters at DLV.

Brian has been the most visible Faster Mustache rider at the velodrome this year. He competed in all main events at the Pro Race Series events: The Keirin, The Omnium, and The Madison. He was the winner of the August Working Man's Madison with Team Type 1 rider Dan Holt. He was also the winner of the Team Sprint in the Regional Track Championships, with Dan Holt and Valentin Todorow. In the July Need For Speed, tournament, Brian placed 2nd, behind Trinidad National Track Champion Emile Abraham, defeating Dan Harm (ATRA NCS Champ) and Oscar Clark in the process.

On Wednesday night racing, the majority of Brian's wins come from scratch, chariot, and match sprints. He has netted two Omnium wins on Wednesday night racing, and placed consistently in the top five. Additionally, he competed in most of the Tuesday night sprint and pursuit events. To put his contribution in perspective, he has scored more than half of Faster Mustache's team points in the Team of the Year competition.

The team placed 2nd in the Team of the Year competition. After winning the year long event last year, every team at DLV was certainly gunning for us. Some excellent off-season recruiting by the East Point Track Club helped them take the early lead and hold on all season. It was a close battle for 2nd place. With just two weeks left, three teams were within a point of each other. Faster Mustache scored big in the closing weeks to secure our spot.
