FM.24.09 Bonus Point Missions posted

Head on over to http://racetracker.fastermustache.org/race/FM:24:09/ and click on "bonus list" to get a printable list of point missions!

All must be completed during the duration of FM.24.09 to count and if we have any reason to think you're cheating, we won't give you the points.

EDIT: All bonuses are either "one per team" or "one team". Either the first/best team gets it (where labeled as such) or each team can get it once.

We may add a few things as the event progresses, so check back every now and then!

We'll have a computer onsite that you can use, but don't count on using it a lot because there will be a lot of people in line.

and it's back. pesky google docs export not escaping csv files properly.

Half

When you say half do you round up or round down if your team is 5 people.

since we're engineers here,

since we're engineers here, 2.5 = 3. we might make some exceptions if there is a compelling case to.

wrong

"even, leave 'em"

My way:
2.5 = 2
3.5 = 4
2.5 + 3.5 = 2 + 4 = 6

Your way:
2.5 + 3.5 = 3 + 4 = 7

ckdake's picture

Your way: Mathematica's

Your way: Mathematica's "Round to even" which makes math like that work out in the end (sometimes) (3.5 + 3.5 = 8 ...)

My way: C99's "round to nearest integer, halfway away from zero", or MATLAB's "round to nearest integer, trailing 5 rounds to the nearest integer away from zero".

While your way is less-biased for large/randomized data sets, for teams of 4,5,6 with the majority being 6 person teams, I feel like the positive bias prevents an unfair advantage for 5 person teams. I'd love to be proven wrong!

I was just giving you a hard time ;)

What ever Python/Scipy/Numpy uses is what I really use -- so I don't actually know or care.
