heyo,
my name is Kareem and I'm currently visiting Atlanta from San Diego until the 12th of july. In august I'll be moving here permanently to start grad school at tech. I've been poking around this site trying to find some info on trick sessions or fixed rides and haven't really been able to get much info. I know Torey from council of doom is from macon but he doesn't know anyone from atlanta thats into FGFS. If you guys have any suggestions on good neighborhoods to live in within reasonable commuting distance to GA tech/cool bars/restaurants that would be great! Anyhow I look forward to meeting you guys and becoming part of the bike community here in atlanta.
Unfortunately I didn't bring a speed bike this trip. Just my trick whip (46x19) so I'm not super keen on distance rides this time around. I'm staying in the midtown area and have transportation.
holler!

welcome to the A
Looks like you are in the right place. Be sure to come to this - this will definitely be your scene. See you there!
yikes!
thanks! haha I don't know what it is about atlanta but I always break shit when I'm here. stripped out my crank threads riding around today. anyone got some 170 length sugino messengers they might wanna sell? if not I might just get ghetto fab and jb weld/tap the threads.
No Brakes
Normally I'd send you to No Brakes for any track/fixed gear componentry but they are closed until July 10 while they move their shop.
Instead I'd take your bike to Outback Bikes and see if they can fix it.
Which threads did you strip? The ones between the crank bolt and the crank arm? That doesn't seem likely to happen just riding around. Maybe you were really mashing!

The bane of travel bikes
For some reason (probably because no one really takes out their pedals on a regular basis), it is really easy to fuck those up on bikes you travel with. I did it once. I was SURE I had put the pedals back on just right, until the exact same one went noodly on me.
Is it square taper? If so, SOPO (www.sopobikes.org) can probably hook you up with one that could keep you afloat until you can find the proper brand/size one. Might even be worth getting one that is not 170, just to keep yoursel rolling.
WOW! a comment from Alex that
WOW! a comment from Alex that wasn't offensive or crude. Wow my mom must have been too tired for him the past few days or something.
Nah
Your girlfriend wore me out, so I was too tired to think of anything.
not this weekend
Sopo is closed July 4th+5th.
fixed gear full suspension?
fixed gear full suspension? rad!
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Wednesday there is a fixed ride from San Francisco Coffee House on Highland. Just introduce yourself to one person and they will introduce you to others.
Friday is the No Brakes Alley Cat. You will want to hit this for sure. No Brakes will be opening at 1pm, so head over early if you want.
Then Saturday is the Festival of Speed at Dick Lane Velodrome. If you meet people on Wednesday and Friday, you will find someone to ride down there with you. Atlanta is really luck to have this. Check it out.
Do you have a twitter account? It is a good way to meet up with the folks.

p.s. PBR just donated FIFTY CASES to the nobrakes boys - that should be killed by the end of sunday if all goes according to plan!
