Well I thought the race on 6/14 was hot until I showed up at Dauset yesterday. I was sweating in the shade at 8:30am. It had been quite a while since I'd ridden Dauset so I was having a hard time remembering the trail. The start was in a new place this year, down by the lake. This was a good thing since it provided some much needed shade.
Turn out was a little low, I'm sure the heat made some people think twice. I was glad the yellow wave went off at 9:30am. I was pleasantly surprised with the trail, it was a lot more fun than I had remembered. I had a decent start and sat mid pack for the first 1/4 to 1/2 the race but I faded hard at the end and got passed by a bunch of people. I had some stomach issues, I'm guessing from the heat. Results aren't up yet but I'm sure I assumed my regular position toward the back of the pack.....avoiding DFL though :)
Racing for FM today were Ross, Eric B. and Ck. Ross has a good story about his tire...lol. His muffler burnt a hole in it on his ride to the course.

Yeah, this race was even
Yeah, this race was even hotter than the one last weekend. I was feeling awful at the start and before getting to the halfway course, I strongly considered stopping riding and emptying my stomach on the side of the trail and curling up into a little ball. However, riding always feels better than doing anything else so I rode on. Another back of the pack finish for me, and for the first time I got lapped by someone doing their second lap -> the grand master lead guy. As he passed, I shouted out "Go Get em!" and he replied back "Too Late!" and laughed maniacally.

nice work sticking it out in the heat and humidity guys, this was a brutal weekend. People were dropping out left and right at the races I did in NC.
