The biggest Critical Mass that I have counted is 378 for Halloween last year, 2008. We had 225 last month. We have had as few as 14 on a rainy day over the Winter. Would it be to crazy to have over 500 people today? Invite everyone you that lives within 100 miles of the city and see if they might be interested. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Do you think we can get 500+ for Critical Mass tonight?

Critical Mass
I will be there on my fixie and bring a friend that will be there first time.
I'll be there.
I'll be there.

Man, the cops sure do know
Man, the cops sure do know how to ruin a good time huh?
Can't leave it at that
Do tell...
But it was fun losing them on
But it was fun losing them on the path!!!!!!!!!!!!
True
Loosing them on PATH was pretty awesome. Only made better when we ran into them again, as they went the other way on Euclid.
Jeff, one motorcycle cop showed up about 20 minutes in, and everyone was confused, cause there were points where he was literally blocking traffic FOR us.
About 10 minutes later a fleet of motorcycle cops shows up and starts directing us. Blowing sirens at every light, trying to get us to turn in certain directions. It was really lame, and it ended up splitting us up into a few groups. By 8:30 I was in a group of maybe 15 people. It was a mess. I ended up doing 20 miles before finally asking where the nearest MARTA station was and heading home.
Well I think we learned
Well I think we learned something with all the nonsense. First of all what ever the group does just do it as a group and always head toward paths and parks when the cops do follow!

Nice Video
Very cool. Thanks for that. That was my first Crit Mass and I had a absolute blast. I'll defffff try and make it out with some buddies next month.
It was my second. They're a
It was my second. They're a lot more fun without the cops.
I counted 278.
It was good to see everyone come last night. I counted 278 at the beginning of Mass. I know of one ticket that was given for running a red light and one verbal warning that was given after they ran a friends name and it came up clean. Can we get 500+ in June?
Does anyone know the guy dressed nice on a penny-farthing?
Background for why I'm interested:
I wasn't riding Friday evening, but happened to be inside a car (driving it too!) headed south on Peachtree when the Mass came north. At the intersection just south of 10th Street, the mass was crossing against the red light when this guy on the penny-farthing took advantage of a gap in the mass to get the two cars through.
I was impressed.
He goes by the moniker
He goes by the moniker "Crash" Crandell -- used to ride with Art "the Dart" (whom I had never heard of, but according to my roommate from PA they were sort of local celebrities around Pittsburgh back in the day -- Art is still an announcer at bike races around Pittsburgh )
don't ask him about taxes unless you've got a big chunk of time to kill ;-)
I saw him
