Dancing Deer Mother's Day Ride

For two weeks in April and May, the CEO of Dancing Deer Baking Co. will shift focus away from managing in a down economy, as she undertakes an extreme personal journey on behalf of 600,000 homeless families throughout the United States. 52-year-old Trish Karter will ride her road bicycle 1,500 miles over 15 days from Atlanta to Boston, stopping at homeless shelters along the way. Every year, 600,000 families with 1.35 million children experience homelessness in the U.S. The goal of the ride is to make a profound and lasting difference in the lives of families living on the edge of homelessness by raising awareness for the issue and supporting the organizations that work tirelessly to end it.

So how exactly can you help? We want people to ride with Trish when she is scheduled to ride in Atlanta into Athens on April 22, and hoping you can help get people together. Of course, riders should check the online website to map her progress, and make sure she is still on schedule before heading out on their bikes. These cyclists can ride with her as many miles as they want. We’d also love for someone to check out our proposed cycling route. Are there tips Trish should know? Places to avoid? A better route we should take? These are questions we hope you can help answer. We would also love any additional biking contacts in the area you think can help.

Here is the website that includes the most updated route information: http://blog.dancingdeer.com/index.php/route/. The ride in the starting city will likely begin between 6:30 and 8:00 am given the amount of miles to be ridden. Trish will arrive in her destination city between 3:00 and 6:00 pm, again depending on mileage, topography, and weather.

If you are interested in helping, please email me as soon as possible at lindsay.interland@dancingdeer.com. That way, we can get a better understanding of how you would like to help, and what you need from us. We can also send you the Sweet Home Mother’s Day Ride PDF, which provides more detailed information about the ride and its mission.

Your help would be immeasurable, and we would greatly appreciate anything you can offer. Your help would make all the difference.

Thank you!
