Don't work!

TimothyJ's picture

My old Ultegra/Mavic Open Pro wheelset has just worn out. I went to put my Dura Ace WH-7700 wheelset on my SRAM Rival equipped road bike. Nope. The SRAM cassette rubs on the funky shaped hub. Any spacers and the lock ring will not fit. I hate it when this happens. Everything works on my Mavic Cosmic Carbone Premiums, but these two things just will not work together. I guess I need to go buy some new Mavic K's to fix this.

Don't paddle!

Reminds me of what my friend Becky said to other rafters one day as we drifted along the Chattahoochee...Don't paddle, shit floats down this river every day!

Try a Chris King lock ring

Try a Chris King lock ring with your thin spacer (you are using a thin spacer right?)

Yeah, I tried various sizes,

Yeah, I tried various sizes, including a thin one- Mavic includes a thin one with their wheelsets for certain cassettes. I was talking with a guy at the LBS and he was telling me Fulcrum wheels are the same with SRAM 10-speed. Kind of a last incompatibility thing to piss everybody off.

I was pondering solutions, but the WH-7700's were kind of a stop-gap until I got some new training wheels. I didn't want to have to go buy a bunch of little parts to make it work.
