Driving through Portland is what it's like to drive through a European city in some ways, because of all the bikes in such a green-conscious city. So imagine my surprise when I picked up The Oregonian Thursday to read this headline atop page one: "Bike-car clash morphs into melee." Seems a driver didn't like the way a bicyclist was running red lights and driving recklessly in downtown Portland, and he yelled at the guy to stop being so careless. The cyclist got off his bike and told the driver to get out of his car if he wanted to make such a fuss about how he was operating his bike. The driver of the car got out. And the bicyclist started -- according to police reports -- beating the driver of the car with the bike. Yes, beating the driver of the car with his bike, holding the bike over his head and assaulting the defenseless driver at least five times, leaving the mark of a bike chain on him.

Haha ridiculous

Good points
and an even better point... if you are sanctimonious enough to pester someone else for doing something illegal that does not directly affect you, make sure you can hold your own because the person you are pestering may be an even bigger asshole than you.
i like his point about it
i like his point about it not being a "cyclist" vs. "motorist" thing, but rather about people on the roads.
i think the whole thing sucks. especially in a supposedly "bike-friendly" city like portland.
.
there's no supposedly...pdx IS very bike friendly
haha
I was going to post this, but then I thought to myself: FM's probably sick of me talking about portland

how's the rent?

Whoa there!
You can't whomp.
There was a running
There was a running discussion of this on a triathlon discussion forum right after it happened. They felt the biker was probably a "critical Masser," which is akin to being a communist evidently among the triathlete community, so he deserved to be berated. They, and triathletes are a bunch of really, really weird people, think people should stop and correct people who do not follow the law- drivers and motorists. Sorry, I just do not have the time or inclination.
"How much does it cost, I'll buy it
The time is all we've lost, I'll try it
But he can't even run his own life
I'll be damned if he'll run mine, Sunshine"

I debate a third "really,"
I debate a third "really," but I thought it might be a little over the top.
