No I just think that chains started being compromised with 9spd.
8spd chains are strong and cheap. IIRC, you can get an 8spd cassette in about any range you want. Yeah, you might not get the perfect gear all the time, but who cares?

solid, reliable, light frames. They do what they are supposed to do and do it well. I still miss mine to this day and would buy another 'dale in a heartbeat.
