ABC membership

Hey everybody. I just wanted to mention that ABC membership is 25% off for the month of May, celebrating Bike Month. So it's only $22 for an individual. ABC really does a lot for us- with new leadership (Rebecca Serna, also one of the founders of Citizens for Progressive Transit (cfpt.org)) they have been and will continue to make actual progress. ABC was instrumental (along with Christopher of course!) in getting the Dekalb tracks removed. ABC organized the bagels in the bike lane on bike-to-work day, and the BikeFest in Woodruff Park. They created the 'I'm on that bike' advertising campaign, which can be see on buses, billboards, etc. This year one of their goals is to get a 3-foot passing law passed (drivers must give 3 feet space when passing cyclists). They run the Confident City Cycling classes for people who are afraid to ride, they're launching the Bike Buddies program this summer to pair up commuters to provide safety in numbers and to help newer riders get started, and most of all they're actively working with local governments, etc. in making sure bike accommodations are included on plans and that the city can grow in a way that is positive for cyclists. There is a long way to go of course, but we really are in good hands with ABC. Please check out their website at www.atlantabike2.org- it's new and interesting, with daily blogs and articles, calendar of events, etc. And please consider joining- if they can go to meetings and say they have the support of say, 1000 cyclists throughout the city, that means a lot. And of course they really do need the financial support also. Thanks, I hope you'll consider helping them out and being able to contribute even more than you already do in getting Atlanta to be a better, safer place to ride bikes. :)
