Boo Boo on BTW Day

IndyFan's picture

I had a minor bike/vehicle collision on Edgewood this morning. Minor scrapes, no damage, all is good. Picture this: the ABC, Downtown TMA, Intown Touring and other advocates were passing out bagels and literature to Bike To Work Day riders on the corner across the street from the diner. As I approached I saw Jeff and Gardiner on their bikes and decided to catch them for a little conversation. Right turning vehicle and I collided in the intersection. Feel like it was partly my fault for not anticipating the driver's turn. She clearly did not see me though she was aware of cyclists on the street. Caught J. and G. for a quick chat down town. Thanks to Rebecca and Byron for the moral support.

Happy Friday!!! How's your day going?

sorry to hear that

I caught the ABC people as they were putting everything away, but I was in time to still get a button.

Ridin' the bike in the City

Rode with my son through Decatur to his school, passed 2 large groups of young bike riders, shepherded by a parent, on their way to school. Got my BTW bagel and trash-talk on Edgewood, rode in with Garnder, then got the right-hook story from IndyFan; a good biking morning all around.

Glad you're ok Tom.

Feel like it was partly my fault for not anticipating the driver's turn.

If you were driving along in a car when a car to your left turns into you, would you also feel like it was your fault for not anticipating their actions?

I understand what you're saying, but it's sad that it is that way. (and glad you're ok!)
