Hey trail enthusiasts!
Tired of all of the bland trails in the perimeter? Hate the traffic to ride some were fairly decent?
Well I got your solution, build EXACTLY what you want. I have a very high poetical area south of Mason Mill Park (Water Works) but is not a part of the green space.
I have already built some nice flowing stuff in the flood plain including a 30'long 10' high log/elevated ride and a 25' long 5' high log ride. There is another area that I plan on bringing the loop to, it has rocks, drops nice short steep hills.
I am a one man team out there, could really use the help!
So come on over on Thursday at about 5:30pm we will meet at the tennis courts and bring some tools (hard rake, hoe and something for chopping is ideal).

Awesome idea. Feel free to
Awesome idea. Feel free to post this as an event so it will show up on the calendar. I won't be able to attend (resting and packing for the 24 Hours of Conyers race this weekend) but I would love to help out in the future, especially on a weekend.
you should check out secret stone mtn trails
really close if you're close to mason mill...
great plan tho. that park has so much old rusty fun stuff in it that would make crazy trails. how are you going to keep the nimbys from destroying it?
i can help later on, but i too am slothing around for the 24hr race this weekend.
Secret Stone Mtn Trails
where are these 'secret stone mtn trails' you speak of? Although, if you publish that here i'm guessing they won't be so secret anymore...
yeah i don't know how big a secret they are
but i'll send you an email.
Stop lying about the trails.
Stop lying about the trails. Everyone here knows that don't really exist. I've been out there. There's nothing but empty 40's and dog poop.
that's trail enough.
that's trail enough.
POSTPONED
Cool, my work Schedule just changed so I will have to postpone until things get better. This weekend is also no good for me, I have a race in Mississippi.
About the nimbys, they don't mess with any thing on my side of the creek. Before I came into the picture the only trail on the Desmond side was a access point to the main trails, it had two crappy areas. The first on was a muddy semi-ditch and the other was a small creek that a friend and I built a wooden bridge over.
Also I am doing every body a good thing, now that the main trails are getting destroyed.
If you don't know where I am talking about (the new trails) as you go over the big concrete bridge take a sharp right it will go along the creek then climb steep to a intersection, take a right and this will bring you to the small wooden bridge after about 120'.
Go over the bridge take a right at the top of the sand hill into the small gully it will more or less stay along the creek then cuts down to the flood plain, once in the flood plain you will have to go over a small log then you will see the trail head up a small steep hill on the right.
Follow the trail until you see the rail road bridge on the right, the trail looks like it dead ends to the creek but if you look to the left of the dead end the trail goes down into a ditch for about 70' then you get to a intersection stay straight where it is not too traveled. The trail gets nice and packed after about 60'.
Check it out when you can, and tell me what you think .
i went on it a couple of weeks ago
don't know how much it's changed since then, but everything over there is tough. it's just so thick sandy...
i'll have to check it out again soon
Ya I made it MUCH nicer
Ya I made it MUCH nicer since then, it is a fun ride if you go as fast as you can and hit every bermed turn, find the line.
Also the two log rides are fun, the first one (I am calling "Disasster" with two s's) is not finished yet but you can ride up then down the elevated wood bridges, the second one can be rode all the way but you have to pull up at the 4' drop off.
hmmm
Wow, I tried to find these trails on Saturday afternoon. I definitely didn't find a bermed turn, one (let alone two) log rides, nor any elevated wood bridges.
I followed these directions:
'If you don't know where I am talking about (the new trails) as you go over the big concrete bridge take a sharp right it will go along the creek then climb steep to a intersection, take a right and this will bring you to the small wooden bridge after about 120'.

I found a bridge to the left of the dog park, it was a log bridge with cement filling in the gaps between the logs. Not my definition of a 'big' concrete bridge, and you couldnt take a sharp right after the bridge, so i highly doubt I was in the right place.
I *did* find a bunch of trails out in the woods at the very end of the park, but they were all short, none of them seemed to go anywhere, and you couldn't make much of a ride out of it. I even tried to go all the way through to the railroad tracks to get a better perspective. That didn't help very much. I'd love to check out these trails as they are such a short drive from where i live, and I ride about 4-5 times a week, so the driving is really becoming an issue (and expensive).
Can anyone lend a hand with a better description of how to find these trails? Was I even close?
