Hi folks, Here's some info on a fun event that benefits a really worthwhile organization:
The Brownwood Bike Rally rolls into East Atlanta on Saturday, June 7, for a sixth year of racing, bike rodeo activities, and other cycling fun for kids and adults of all skill levels.
The rally begins at 9 a.m. with street races and a bike rodeo for kids age 5 to 15. In the rodeo, kids earn points by completing bike agility and safety exercises. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories.
Adults can enjoy races along East Atlanta streets and Brownwood Park’s dirt paths. There are races for all skill levels, including a “Fun Race” for anyone 16 and over and men’s and women’s Cyclocross-Track criterium races for more experienced cyclists.
The stunt bike show features the daredevils of the Mama’s Board ‘n Bike stunt team, who will perform high-flying aerial and flat ground tricks. Food and drink booths will keep spectators and racers fueled until events wrap up at 2 p.m.
The bike rally is free for children. Registration is $10 or $25 for adults, who can register at www.active.com or beginning at 8:00 a.m. on rally day. All proceeds benefit the East Atlanta Kids Club, an after-school mentoring and enrichment program for promising youth.
Brownwood Park is at 602 Brownwood Avenue SE, Atlanta, GA 30316. For more information visit www.eastatlantakids.org or contact bikerallypr@eastatlantakids.org.
