mtb fork rebuild?

Anyone have experience with having their mtb suspension fork or shock rebuilt locally? I know some folks love Push Industries but I'd prefer to keep it local if it can be done well for a reasonable cost. Alternately, anybody have experience with a DIY rebuild?

but that never stopped me before. I would also like to rebuild my fork. Let me do a little research and see about gettiing some oil. Maybe we can D/L the instructions and make an evening of it.

I hear the folks in the shop at the Perimeter REI are super hip to fork repair. I'm sure they wouldn't mind some people dropping by to pick their brains. Having people ask you about your bike-fu = feeling like a rock star.
