So come June in Portland the annual Carfree Cities Conference is coming to the US for the first time. At the same time the city is hosting Pedalpalooza. I'm psyched cause I can bike down to it and get my anti-car on, but reading more about it HERE I saw this thing called Ciclovia which I've heard described but never actually seen before. Street Films has a really good video explaining how bikes are truly taking over the world, one city at a time. The highways being filled with bikes brought tears to my eyes and a beating in my heart that can only be satiated by pedal-power. I hope you are equally inspired!
p.s. Anyone wanna make Bikewatch ATL? I think it'd be too much like the Ambassadors, but hey, CAP could use some more cyclists 'in the know'.

The music around 1:30 is kinda creepy. I half expected something tragic to happen like they all get hit by a giant bus.
Quick question for the masses:
If there was one street in ATL that would be beneficial to all people (peds, cyclists, residents, and business owners) if it was permanently closed to cars, what street would you choose?
I would say Peachtree from Trinity to Lucky.

I disagree on this one. This street is really accessible for cars and there is a lot of street parking for businesses that i think would be hugely affected if their car-operating customers disappeared.
Also, its rather hilly which makes ped and velo traffic difficult. However, in a car its not an issue.

That's only Briarcliff to Scott... but yeah, the ATL 500 is not a fun bike ride (Dekalb Ave past Krog is the same way).
Hell, yeah! Close Ponce on
Hell, yeah! Close Ponce on principle. A lovely park ride that has been bastardized into an unlimited free-for-allway.
