I put the primary election on the calendar, and thought I would create a thread in case anyone had anything to discuss on the topic.
I'll get it started: In my opinion, our current presidential administration has let us down this past 8 years. And in the year since we sent a strong democratic majority to congress to start fixing shit, they have accomplished almost nothing.
This year it won't be about republican vs democrat. True progress through our partisan system can only be accomplished by a fresh, inspiring candidate that can bring conservatives and progressives together, and bring our soldiers home: Barack Obama.

If I used this game to decide
I would be the only person in Georgia voting for Mike Gravel.
.
do you have to be registered for a specific party to vote in a particular primary, or do you get to chose at the polling place?
in GA you get to pick. no
in GA you get to pick. no pre-registration required (IIRC)
I have no candidate. All
I have no candidate. All the tests confirm it.
I watched the video
And it made me think of that scene in Wag the Dog where they get some famous musicians to put together a music video as another hunk of propaganda for their fictional war. I think it's sick how cynical and jaded we've all become over the last 8 years.
I want to believe in Obama. I want to believe that he's progressive. And I'm going to vote for him. But his hard sell on hope is not fooling me. Even if he's not a liar, his opponents (and probably many of his allies...) are liars and they will eat him alive whether he gets elected or not. I don't think anybody can wage a fair campaign in this country and win. The last presidential election divested me of my last shreds of confidence in the american political system.
I'm with you Dfunk.
I'm with you Dfunk (jaded and cynical).
We also have to remember all of the cockroaches that came into the room when Chimpo won in '00 and '04. Whatever candidate ends up taking the election this year, let's all hope they surround themselves with intelligent people who actually know what they hell they are doing.
I'd also like to take this time to extend a good hearty 'fuck you' to Donald Rumsfield and Paul Wolfowitz. Hopefully we've (the American people) seen the last of assholes like you in positions of power. Oh yeah, and Darth Cheny. Let's not forget that guy.
For real.
let's all hope they surround themselves with intelligent people who actually know what they hell they are doing.
Yeah, preferably people that weren't fucking up our nation in the 70's as members of the NIXON administration. How do these fuckwits keep getting hired??!! (P.S. If you don't wanna get really REALLY angry, don't read the section in Cheney's Wikipedia article about his draft deferment.)

Well done
That one is sure to secure the idgit vote.
I'm confused
they show a graph separating idjits and republicans.
The idgit vote crosses party
The idgit vote crosses party lines... and gender... and economic disposition... and sometimes biological classification.
Point taken
I'd expect you to know that.
TOUCHE, bitch!
Barack Wins Georgia!
Hell yeah.
Wait for it
Only 12 precincts reporting. None of them in the urban counties. Continuous updates here.
Obama Leads in Pledged Delegates?
Obama's camp is claiming they've won more pledged delegates.
The difference between pledged delegates and superdelagates is an important distinction to draw.
Generally, pledged delegates in the Democratic Primary are awarded as an apporptionment based on % of the vote in each state election. It's a little more complicated, but basically the process is democratic.
Superdelegates are the undemocratic part of the convention. Superdelegates are party elites who are pols, party bigwigs, and activists/donors/honoraries. Their votes count just like pledged delegates for determining the party nominee. So far, Clinton has more Superdelegates pledging their support, but she could lose them if Obama continues to lead in pledged delegates (i.e. winning actual votes.)
duh
the candidate match game matches me with 1st: Dennis Kucinich, 2nd: Mike Gravel, 3rd: Mitt Romney
Romney....
You must have answered "Invest in alternative energy" for the global warming question. It's a bogus representation of policy positions. Edwards was for investment and carbon credits, yet the question only registers for him for carbon credits...
Herein is the hazard o' questionaires.
