So, as Tim, Connie and I have been discussing, it would add an interesting aspect to the race if it happened to coincide with a big event downtown that brought out a lot of pedestrian/auto traffic. Last year's race coinciding with the DMB concert and the GA Music Hall of Fame event seemed to go over quite well. Ckdake's race date thread lists the dates we probably want to avoid. Are there any events that we DO want FM24 to conflict with?

Yeah I know. I was just being as ass. Seems like if its a bike race that you wouldn't want to intentionally 'conflict' with something downtown unless your trying to make a statement of some sort. The south east and west coast are home so some of the top ultra endurance cyclist in the world. Seems like making it less about a statement and more about a race could draw in some real 24 hour specialists.
If you tip it more the other way and more about purposely scheduling it to conflict with another major event in town then its more about attention whoring and making a statement than it it about being a race.

One of the key aspects of this race is that it's urban, not just that it is on roads. Traffic and events present unique challenges to riders, and it's great when they change over the course of the race.
I've been getting in touch with the people that typically win these 24 hour things, and the pretty universal response so far has been that their schedules are full for the year already, so they likely won't be making it anyways :)
ck!
hey, i cleared my schedule and i'll be able to make it after all... oh wait, you weren't asking me i guess :)

17 minutes have been cleared from my calender that I damn-well plan on making up from last year! (whatever the weekend)
