This is a thread to post legitimate conflicts with a possible date for FM.24.08.
FM.24.08 will _NOT_ be on a date where an event in bold exists.
If you think something should be bold. Say so and why.
!!!Any comment here that is not legit, or is discussion, may be removed.!!!

September 6-7 looks pretty
September 6-7 looks pretty damn good. I wish to avoid the cold, because I get cold. That is about the same as 07.
We should check and make sure there are a few concerts, football games and a big weekend convention going on, just too make it interesting. How about during Dragon-con and we can race right down Peachtree!?
falcons schedule isn't
falcons schedule isn't posted yet. find dates for things and put them here.
Braves in town Sept. 6-7
Saturday night at 7:35, Sunday at 1:35.
I'd kind of prefer it not
I'd kind of prefer it not happen during concerts/conventions I will be attending. Non-cycling sporting events are cool by me though.
Fun!
It just makes it more fun! The GT game, The Dave Mathews concert and the Lynyrd Skynyrd Hall Of Fame thing really made FM.24.07 much more fun!
I was signed up for a late fall adventure race a few years ago. Turns out the race was taking place a week after deer season opened. So they canceled it! So a few of the slower folks might have gotten shot? Not everybody can win! (I always vote against the furry brown team jersey!)
Good idea
a shooting element makes any event more fun. With that in mind, we need to make sure that any route makes people have to take Boulevard.
I wasn't arguing against the
I wasn't arguing against the sentiment, just the specific event you want the race to conflict with.

GaTech released its football schedule two weeks ago (in case that applies to anybody else, and yes the stadium has bike racks) and Sept 6-7 is an away game, so your choice looks good.

you should announce (in a more central location) that the date is currently being voted on. I think 3/4 the way down the "race date" page is still a little hidden.
theres no vote here though.
theres no vote here though. People have had their chance to say things in this thread, and many opinions are being taken into account. This is the cumulation of all of those opinions and events.
The open source thing doesn't work so well for a set timeline, so this year is going to be a little more structured. The intent will still be for everyone to be happy, but yeah. Stay tuned!
gottcha. so my opinion is

Laborday Weekend
I don't know what you were thinking when you said "Aug 23-24 Labor Day Weekend", but Labor Day Weekend is Aug 29 - Sep 1.
Prolly just a typo
But it's a moot point, as the proposed race date is 9/6-7, which I am in favor of.
It's hard to get lots of
It's hard to get lots of dates right!
And maybe a typo but Aug 29th is a friday and Sep 1 is a monday ... ;)
You're right on that. Labor
You're right on that. Labor Day Monday is part of Labor Day weekend, but I'm only including the Friday because I won't be at work!
Hell
If you are me it is difficult to get one date, even, and I ain't talking about the fruit (dunno where to get those either).
But I suppose we are talking about calendar dates, Sept 6 & 7 are fab and it is a holiday in Brazil so my little brother may be able to join us (maybe). I have never raced him but I would expect him to be fast.
