Bike blender at FM.24

Tex's picture

I hear that Sopo has agreed to bring the bike blender to FM.24. I've volunteered to head this up from Sopo's end, so I need to know some stuff about how it's going to work. CK says if I ask here, the answers will come :-)

Stuff that needs to be figured out:

  • What are the drinks going to be? I heard about vegan protein shakes?
  • What ingredients need to be purchased for above drinks?
  • Which organization will keep the profits? This will be based on who puts the time in to man the blender, prepares the ingredients, and transports stuff to and from Johnny's. On the one hand I can pretty much get everything ready and would just need some FM volunteers to man the blender while I'm out doing laps. On the other hand Sopo could just loan the blender to FM for the weekend and I would just help man it for a couple hours. Some mix of the two will probably work best.

The answers are coming

The bike blender is going to work mostly like a "vendor space" for SOPO. This means that they are responsible for running it and supplying the ingredients/equipment. For this reason, SOPO will charge the rate that they think is fair and keep all revenues/profits. SOPO wins because they get to spread the good SOPO word and make some money. FM wins because we get to offer a protein shakes for racers at a fair price.

Because SOPO is running it, SOPO needs to determine the ingredients. These can be vegan or meat shakes, I don't care. Also, it would be great if they did some decorations to make this look like a "filling station" where racers fuel up on healthy shakes before or after a lap.

Sound good?

sounds good to me

except i doubt we'll have time for decorations because we're overhauling the shop between sept 1 and the race.
can it be placed near our repair tent?

Yep, works for me!

As Rachael mentioned, a location next to the Sopo repair station will be ideal since we may need to share volunteers.

me, too!

You guys can pretty much set up anywhere in the parking lot that you want.

hrm

Margaritas are also pretty awesome from a bike blender, but I'm not sure if there's any legal trouble regarding getting licensed to sell alcohol.

wait a minute! there is no alcohol in my protein smoothie

just like my other bottle is full of water, not gin.
sopo and I are on the up and up. on the wagon, nothing going on here.
just go about your business and stop bothering us well manered cyclist who are out for a bit of exercise and a good law abiding time with a little help from the local co-op.
