Brazil

If you have never watched this movie, there is probably not a better time in American history to watch it.

I might just have to make it a faster movie night. My TV is kinda small. Would anyone with a cool set be willing o host it?

Seriously, it has been a while since a movie made me go "HOLY SHIT" like that.

Is the movie title "Brazil?" I've never heard of it & I always second having a faster movie night. . :0)

faster movie nights used to

faster movie nights used to be every sunday night.. Saw all kinds of crazy and awesome movies. Ideally one would need 4+ couches and chairs and a projector and all that. I've got the TV but no sitting space really. meh.

Terry Gilliam!

another movie in a similar vein

I recently saw a movie called "Idiocracy" which reminded me quite about of Brazil. It's a slightly different take on the same subject. It's a comedy/satire by Mike Judge (King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead, Office Space) with the main plot device being that an extremely average guy gets sent 500 years into the future only to discover that he is now the smartest man on the planet, since human evolution doesn't really select for intelligence and stupid people reproduced at an astronomical rate compared to smart people. It's not up to the level of Office Space or Brazil, but it's good for a few laughs.

You, sir, stolen my post! I

You, sir, stolen my post!

I was about to mention this new film, Idiocracy. Have you seen it? and where? I've only read about it online, most comments are very favorable, plus there's alot of inside baseball on how the studio is giving this film no PR, no Ads, no marketing.

Opps, I just looked it up on yahoo movies and it was released last labor day? Hmmm. Too much resin still in my system?

Brazil is awesome, an homage to Orwell's 1984. Tuttle vs. Buttle, the bug is a real bug, etc. Killer set design. I especially love the part where they're driving down the highway, which literally has wall-to-wall billboards, and finally the camera angle rises up to where you can see the awesome country side behind all the BS. Man that so reminds me of the southeast, we have far too much visual liter.

PS. If you've never done any acid, go see the film cuz parts of it really feel like acid. (of course thats not personal experience, I just read it somewhere?)

Classic film alert !!!

Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927) is on at midnight on TCM (ie. turner classic movies (you know for the yankees)). On comcast that is channel 69.

If you've ever worked in a cubicle, then this film is for you.
enjoy.

Subversive!

Keep that anti-technocratic German socialist agitprop to yourself!

(I'd watch it myself if I had the miracle of television in my house.)
