Yes
I liked doing the parade lap. I thought it was fun and a good warmup.
whoa nelly
whoa nelly.
I think there's a law against posting the first comment on a thread that you start.
This was talked about last night, and it seems there wont be an offical parade lap @ noon, but one around ~10am for people who aren't familar with the route.
I think a good compromise would be a parade lap @ 11:30am. This way teams can leave their first rider behind to start the actually race @ noon.
Sorry, I thought it'd bias
Sorry, I thought it'd bias things less if I didn't put my own opinion on the main page.
stop talking to youself
stop talking to youself
man! you've got a good
man! you've got a good point! you're so cool, v1ct0r!
If I didn't know Victor was real...
...I'd think he was my imaginary friend. He IS real, right?
The 'parade lap' is left up
The 'parade lap' is left up to the individual teams. There will be far too many riders this year to do a parade lap.
neutral lap
There will be a neutral lap to start the race, much like the races at a velodrome. This will not be a race lap and no one will get their first lap card unless they arrive with the group. A minimum of one rider per team must participate, but all are welcome.
ecactly
its not required for everyone but it is encouraged. This lap will take the opportunity to point out exact locations of hole punches.
Ok, not as awesome
See below.
that sounds like it might
that sounds like it might open up a really big can of worms my friend.
to paraphrase...phrase, whatever:
-"The 'parade lap' is left up to the individual teams. There will be far too many riders this year to do a parade lap."
100+ riders... that's CM,
100+ riders... that's CM, and 10 miles is gonna take like infinity.
i agree. also draws
i agree. also draws attention to us which may be less than ideal.
+1
agreed. even though it would be cool to see all the racers out at once. with 26+ teams, I assume that there will be 26 riders on the first "official" lap. This should still be enough of a good show for spectators w/out causing some B.S. that is possible with a CM type ride.
CM
Yeah good point, it would take forever. Perhaps then a Neutral Lap of ONLY one rider per team
Ah bullshit...you guys don't
Ah bullshit...you guys don't want a parade lap 'cause you know I'd win it again!
Another idea
I think someone said this already, but perhaps at 11 am there can be a learnin' lap. Anyone unfamiliar with the course can participate.
Do we know yet which corners
Do we know yet which corners of intersections the punches will be on?
only the panda knows
And I'm not sure he knows yet.
heres the deal: each punch
heres the deal:
each punch will be located on the right side before the intersection tethered to a post as near to a crosswalk button as i can make them.... so it will look, to the casual observer, as if there is a cyclist hopping off their bike to cue the crosswalk signal when you go to punch your card. and you wont have to do any unnecessary crossing of streets. the only issue i have, which was brought to my attention earlier today, is that there are 'technically' two [moreland and euclid] intersections, and i had been thinking of the more northern one, but apparently the more common conception is that the southern intersection (where euclid veers and mclendon begins) is actually 'moreland and euclid'... when i go out later today i will resolve this issue and post here promptly the exact locations of each point.
moreland and euclid
I was thinking it would be around the L5 cul-de-sac, near L5 pizza?
that's the northern
that's the northern intersection
for the folks using the recommended route
please, please, please... be careful at the intersection of Freedom and Moreland. they replaced the curbs today and left a serious wheel eating gap.
if there is an early/learning lap, someone might want to take notice of construction and make hazards known on one of the maps. the gap on the highland/randolph bridge will swallow wheels and ruin your day. west peachtree has been grinded to two lanes... might be down to one by tomorrow. good news - virginia is now smooth sailing.
also... w peachtree about
also... w peachtree about halfway down the hill towards 14th they have cut what is probably a 6 foot (in the direction of traffic) two inch deep gash in the pavement. this runs the ENTIRE width of the road. it will kill some tires some rims some crazy shit.... please please please preview this hill and be very mindful of this spot. slowing a lot or jumping are the only real ways over this.
haha, if only i had seen
haha, if only i had seen this sooner.....
