can't speak for the track,
can't speak for the track, but the 29er frame is tehubershit. at least the early production runs. i have heard (can't really confirm because i don't ride a lot of them) that due to extreme popularity of their 29er frame that production quality has lagged a bit. they also switched from Reynolds 631 to Tange heat-treated tubing... they claim this to be an 'unofficial upgrade', but i have my own theories on that one.
eh
i'm not sure what you plan to use it for, but i would definitely NOT advise purchasing their track frame if you plan to race track. the geometry is not track-specific and not very aggressive. for racing on the track, you really need track specific geometry to get on top of your sprint and maintain control. also, i would recommend aluminum over steel for racing. even though the track is concrete and bumpy and steel is going to be more comfortable, you will gain so much speed from a light, stiff aluminum frame. really, if you still have your spicer that's what i would race on the track. if you're in the market for an affordable track frame, i would check into fetish bicycles or leaders. if you've got money to spend, felt or blue both make excellent frames (blue's track frame is especially awesome.)
if you plan to do minimal track riding and use it mainly for street riding, then i would recommend the soma because it is a more relaxed geometry and steel. but over the bikes you currently own, it wouldn't really be much of a difference.
Chuck's bikes (
Chuck's bikes ( http://www.chucksbikes.com ) has an excellent Al track frame as well:

actually.. it's for the road
i'm trying to figure out where to go next with my everyday cycling. the nishiki is pretty cool, but not fast enough. the spicer.. i think i'm retiring that bad boy. it's not like i have money to blow, but, you know.. it's essentially my "car", so i'll do what i gotta do.
soma for the road will be
soma for the road will be great!
rad
i'm watching this bike, but i might just go for the soma. in black. i have no patience for ebay.

i'm ok with being a bikeslut. why just the other day, a motorist who courteously pulled his car out in front of me while i had the right of way gently informed me that i am indeed a ho after i exuberantly praised his high regard for human life!

i have four frames.. one track, one touring, one conversion, and the spicer. also, i don't have a car. it balances out. plus, i can't keep riding the conversion. that frame is about to be trash.. or a bike rack.
???
how is the nishiki slow? seems like changing the gearing would be the easiest thing
sure
but there's the whole issue of the frame having been wrecked, so it doesn't matter anyway.
i don't like soma
they are too big. at least, the one i tried to ride was. it was like 61cm (afterall, it belonged to neal, who is like 6100cm tall). they are just too too big.

but it's not mine, in case you're wondering. it's a loaner. it's pretty rad, although i would set it up differently. too much cameltube.
