Riding FM rte tonight
I've registered solo, simply because I would find it infuriating to have to sit around for twenty out of twenty four hours. I think it is very possible for a two-man team to take this thing, though, and perhaps I could sit still for twelve hours. That's the only other alternative I've considered so far. I don't know yet.
I will be leaving Johnny's, both tonight and tomorrow night, at midnite to do 4 or 5 laps. Tonight slow, tomorrow fast. I can't sleep anyway. Join me if you want to talk about it. I be wearing the flourescent orange deer hunter hat and high-visibility black clothing.

before someone comes on here and tells you there is no category for 2 man teams, let me first say that we WILL accept 2 man teams, sort of. We suggest 4-6 man/woman teams for a few reasons, not the least of which is that we don't want one million teams to keep up with. However, if you feel capable and willing, you are more than welcome to sign up for a 2 man team.
I did a 2-man 12 hour race with Donald and let me tell you, it was intense as hell. Good luck!
yeah christopher, but that's
yeah christopher, but that's because we had to 'go ape shit'.
Solo Teams
From simple observations last year, I advise against it, for simple reasons:
This is 24 hours, I can count the number of people I know who can stay up for 24 consecutive hours and drink on two hands, the number of people who can stay up for 36 consecutive hours on one hand, and those that can still do complicated math after those 36 hours... on my index and thumb. Though the race is 24 hours, the event is closer to 30 hours, and in those thirty hours you have to be 'on your toes' so to speak. That is a hard thing to accomplish.
LambSandwich last year did 11 laps, for a total of about 120 miles. From his report afterwards, he was in bad shape physically. LambSandwich rides all the time, I'm pretty sure the bicycle is part of his body. To say that he did 11 laps and couldn't stand to do another says a lot. Of course he was doing it fixed...
However, for those of you that want to haul ass and try to get the coveted 'Fastest Individual Lap', I recommend riding solo. There are distinct advantages:
You don't have to ride unless you want to, no "Wake up you douche, it's your turn to ride". You can tailor your diet and bike to suit this (tons of Redbull, Frosted Flakes, and a triath-a-bike). You can choose when to ride, wind is at it's calmest in the wee hours of the morning.
