Jason says a party will still be happening at his place on the weekend of the 30th
Spread the love

Faster Decision Making
In action. This will be radder than all hell.
And I owe the White Ninja a beer, even though he put me in a containment bubble.
Everyone needs to pre-register
so that Johnny's can order supplies appropriately. Can we do this on the FM site?
Anything can be done on
Anything can be done on 24.fm.org that someone is willing to take up. I'm a bit pressed for time these days and may be able to do it but can't make any promises.
Questions:
Of course, most everybody who knows about it by now will pre-reg. But what do we do about walk-ups? I think it's certain we'll have people who want to register on [edit]RELAY[edit] day. Will we have to turn those people away? I mean, we can make sure all the publicity says "pre-registration only," and keep a few slots open for people who walk up anyway. Thoughts?
this "party" at jasons...
...will be a little more than a party. details forthcoming, but needless to say, its going to exite everyone.
how big?
how big of a race do you guys want this to be? we were talking to the kids at king kog in brooklyn during the bicycle film fest and they expressed some interest in coming down as they have their own team(*fast) once/the 24 website is updated i suggest sending some invites to kids in other cities. get a post on www.trackstarnyc.com and www.kingkog.com
Could be cool
I've been talking to messengers in Baltimore and DC, telling them Atlanta's got cool cyclists. And of course there's the kids in Tally. If we get a bunch of people from out of town to show up, it could put us on the map for the east coast cycling scene. I'm sad I missed the tour de lemond up in DC. It sounded amazing.
Anyway, should we nominate ourselves as mid-atlantic and new england publicity liasons, respectively?
Mackie: Is this the Team
Mackie: Is this the Team Puma guys?
Dawn: What is the capacity of Johnny's?
Before we get people excited from all over the country, which is very cool, lets find out how many locals will compete, etc. and work backwards from Johnny's capacity.
Good call.
But lets move on it, then. The out-of-towners will need extra time to plan their trip down here.
i dont think they are
as far as i know they are not team puma. king kog has 3 or 4 guys that they help out who race at track/alleycat events and are messengers as well. probably a good idea to find out about capacity and go from there.
we could also offer my
we could also offer my warehouse as a offsite base IF tons of people show up. (IF IF IF)
i live around the corner from the venue.... if overpopulating Johnny's is an issue.
The capacity of Johnny's is 146
The capacity of Johnny's is 146 for the inside. There is no number for the back patio, and if you throw in some overflow on the parking lot, I guess the whole shebang is ~200.
The parking lot is a big square with lots more space than the 18 parking spots I counted suggests.
There hours are 4pm till late ~3am.
So this means for at least 12hrs we're the only ones there and can max it out we need be.
Stephanie,
Last year we had ~75 people. With lots of current momentum, more than a month for marketing and possible teams for the great north, its not necessarily likely that we'll fill the place up, but we could, have you and Johnny's discussed how much "regular" business he anticipates serving in addition to us? If any? I mean if we get enough pre-registers, say 75-100, plus walkups, he might not want regular customers on this day.
Talk it over with them? Let us know. I think we can get gt 100 racers on the new date. Also did you already say we would get the entire parking lot? If not, then what percentage?
My current thinking on inviting teams from other cities is to keep it on the quite side, if we get lt 20-30, I think its not problem.
But less find out what Johnny's expect from not race business on that Saturday, before we start inviting folks.
Everybody keep in mind that the max capacity is not exactly the most comfortable capacity.
Thus should we think about a max entry size? Overflow at Stephanie's is very nice, but it has the same problems that Jason's generous offer had. Plus you biforcate the party.
Good Marketing Goal
100 relayers.
Anybody think we should raise the ante?
The really good thing about
The really good thing about an upper limit is that it forces people on the fence to signup early instead of waiting day of event.
Then of course that makes food/t-shirts/etc/ planning pretty much dead on.
Genau
Wise.
Once we get a graphic, it
Once we get a graphic, it will be posted in all the usual places... (SS/FG on bikeforums.net, trackstarnyc.com, kingkog.com, the frickin' moon). I would like to see this as big as Monster Track. That would make my heart swell and then burst.
We can't make it bigger than
We can't make it bigger than we have *room* for, though.
If it has to span the
If it has to span the planet... so be it.
Not that this should affect anything, but
Austin, Rachael, Nathan, and myself may not be in town the weekend of the 4th. Ah well.
.
.
.
We will, however, be in town the weekend of the 30th, and something awesome will happen.
that
obviously affects quite a few things.
yeah!!
LIKE YOUR FACE!!
What will you be up to?
What will you be up to?
what will we be up to?
YOUR FACE!!!!!
haha
whoops.
NOT THAT THIS.....
MAN PLEASE! WHAT ELSE HAPPENS OR DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN WHOEVER ISN'T IN TOWN. GIMME A BREAK.
Wow
You really have the wrong idea. I am just bummed that we may not be able to do it because of other plans that we have. I thought it was obvious when I said "this should not affect anything" that nothing should be changed on our behalf. You give me a break.
Mmm... KitKat bars.
Mmm... KitKat bars.
yep. it's just funny.
yep. it's just funny.
Funny that...
...November 4th you plan to be in Alkabo, North Dakota, to witness a second cousin ordained as a minister in some survivalist kult? The place's name is a portmanteau of the two types of dirt found there...
C'mon. Is that really more important than helpin' out with FM24?
+1
portmanteau
Jase...
How the hell do you know that? Do I want to know really?
Rachael
She told me.
She's ditching FM24 for Alkabo, North Dakota.
What's worse is that she doesn't even really know this second cousin very well. She's got no love in her heart for us, I tell ya... NONE! ZILCH! NADA!
Oh, and the rest of'em are goin' along to see about signin' up for the survivialist kult. Apparently they liked the busty chicks with guns pictured in the prospectus.
WHOOP WHOOP!
Word nerd alert!

yesss
that's what we talked about. I hope we can make this happen.
hole punchers
so the hole puncher thing, that's something we're going to use for the hills race. it could cut down on costs for both sopo and fm if we share them. lemme know if anyone's interested in doing that.
