Hey everyone. I've heard rumors of a "new date" for the race that was new to me and not on the website, as well as "confirmed locations" and people concerned that their efforts to find a location were in vain. This is all news to me as well as most people I've talked to. What's going on? last I heard (and read), the race is on September 30, 2006 and location was yet to be decided.

confirmed location:
its in yer butt, boy, its in yer butt!!
Last I heard, we were
Last I heard, we were exploring locations and considering postponing the date. That info's almost two weeks old though.
I'll attempt to summarize,
I'll attempt to summarize, feel free to post corrections.
Well this begins last night on the weekly Wednesday ride.
1) As usual after the previous week's ride, folks were talking about possible locations, etc. and Stephanie suggested Johnny's on North Highland might be game.
2) Last night, Dawn and Stephanie confirmed Johnny's was good to go, but perhaps on 10/14-10/15. Apparently the pushed back date is to accommodate an electronic tracking system and other things like T-shirts, etc.
3) The only other options I knew were in play, due to the efforts of "toomanyaustins/eastofaustin", were the Local, and what I know as the old "Good-Ole Days" in L5P (its on the northeast corner of moreland and euclid).
4) After the ride last night, we (myself and toomanyaustins) told the Local (which was a sub-optimal location, but I'm not going to look a gifthorse in the mouth, I mean we need a freakin' host, and pronto), to forget about it, because Johnny's is the dealio.
So I guess there are two things to be aired out and then decided.
1) Is Johnnys going to be the host? Does an original member of FM want to bless this option, etc. What does anybody else want to say about this?
2) The current race date was set months ago, because of the obvious complexity of minimizing conflicts, etc. I say we keep the current racedate for several reasons.
a) everybody's knows when it is, and has made other plans around it.
b) according to other FM24 threads, the wishes of the group were to keep the cost/price down, and to use last years very simple tracking system, because of additional expense, and the inherent liabilities of technology when Murphy's law strikes.
The race is about fun and goodtimes, its not technology POC.
(proof of concept)
If Stephanie or Dawn want to post that Johnny's is confirmed then we only have TWO main tasks left. (yes I know lots of small things are left also)
1) A badass T-Shirt
2) A killer route, which given Johnny's new location should be lots of fun.
This is all I know, add or substract from it as you wish.
The date _needs_ to stay the
The date _needs_ to stay the same for the points that you mentioned. Anything else you mention is fair game by me as long as everyone knows whats going on and theres input from a group of people for making decisions. I'll add to the list of todos: prizes are important to some (but definitely not all) people.
This race needs to happen! High fives to those that make it so. I'm back to reading about how routers do packet classification...
date conflict
i posted a long time ago when the conversation about the race started that sopo is doing a small benefit party at lenny's the weekend of oct 13 and asked if we could please avoid creating a scheduling conflict with that.
...
johnny's will be a great location and host. nothing had been confirmed through the 'higher ups' yet at the local or brewhouse so no worries there.
Oh, hell yeah. "johnny's
Oh, hell yeah.
"johnny's will be a great location and host"
but lets just make sure its on Sept 30 - Oct 1. Even though the hour is late, it ain't too late to make it happen.
PS. If anybody sees Stephanie or Dawn tomorrow, ask them to read FM and post on this matter.
