Faster MustacheFaster Mustache is a progressive non-organization made up of a diverse group of Atlanta residents with one thing in common: riding bicycles. We believe in the power of cyclists to change our communities and our world through ongoing discussion, entertaining events, and positive action. Online and on the road, at work or at play, we challenge everyone to use a bike. It doesn't matter what type: fixed, free, geared, single, cruiser, chopper, racer, or clunker. No two bikes are the same and certainly no two riders are the same, but in the auto-centric city of Atlanta, we have fun
sticking together. Simply put, we invite everyone to bike everywhere with us. Welcome to Faster Mustache! | ![]() |

Faster Mustache dons Pink again
Submitted by atlbiker on Sun, 10/17/2010 - 09:30
Twice this year I have ridden under the Pink banner. First it was with Jim at the Dick Lane Madison Pro Series and more recently this Saturday at the YSC Tour de Pink. With team mates Michelle and Angela, we raised $1,470.
The Tour de Pink was really something. I have done my fair share of group riding, but never have I seen so much laughter and cheer on such a cool early morning. I look forward to doing this ride again next year hopefully raising even more for the charity... $5K. Cake, right?!

FM:Race 2010 Track Season ends with a win!
Submitted by ckdake on Mon, 10/04/2010 - 00:55The 2010 season of track racing at Dick Lane Velodrome has come to an end, and FM:Race did a pretty awesome job this year!
With his first year on the team, Justin Barber charged from an uncertain C racer up to a competitive A racer, holding his own against people whose only job is to win bike races. He ended up in overall 2nd place for the year with 318.6 season points , a mere 0.4 points behind Dan Holt who does things like winning elite national track championships.
The 4 most frequent track racers (Justin, Chris Kelly, Jason Atwood, and Jim Hodgson) all participated in the majority of Madison events this year, and were the only B racers to do so. Yes, we frequently/always came in last, but as the season progressed, we slowly closed the gap to the various national/international champions that were winning the races. Justin even finished one (a few?) Madisons on the lead lap!

Jason and Chris spent the season in the Bs, starting to figure out team tactics which worked out fantastically at least a few times. Jim quickly moved up from the Cs this year to the Bs, Greggory Rothmeier lended a hand a few times in B races (snagging a few points for himself in the process), Paul Bennett occasionally showed up in the Cs but consistently won every time he was around, and Charles Earl raced a few C races but suffered a nasty hand injury at the first pro race event.

Team tactics in play at a pro race event! Justin and I off the front got 1st and 2nd in this 10lap B race at a pro event while Jason and Greggory controlled the field. Photo by unknown.
All that effort grabbed FM:Race 1st place team at the Dick Lane Velodrome for 2010, beating out 24 other teams including some stiff competition from teams with super fast riders. Here is a terrible photo of us receiving our trophy.
In the individual standings (out of 200+ people):
2nd: Justin Barber
10th: Chris Kelly
14th: Jim Hodgson
15th: Jason Atwood
45th: Paul Bennett
And to top of the season, out of a field of 20+ track racers, Justin grabbed 2nd place and Chris took 3rd in Goldsprints at the DLV End of Season party. (Goldsprints hurt! Proof: Justin, Chris, Jason)

Track Victory!!
Submitted by ericnico on Thu, 09/30/2010 - 15:50Congratulations is in order for FM:Race's outstanding track team! http://www.dicklanevelodrome.com/content/2010/09/riderteam-year-winners....
The season is over at the Dick Lane Velodrome, and the results are in. FM's Justin Barber took 2nd by less than a point for individual riders. The team as a whole overtook the GA State team for 1st in overall team points!
Great job guys

DH in snowshoe
Submitted by ericnico on Tue, 08/31/2010 - 19:55For immediate members of the Huxtable family, Snowshoe is more fun than ever. AS always, plenty of rocky gnar, plus newer groomed, bermed, jump trails. What more can you ask for? Maybe a Fellini's at the top...

DLV: The Omnium
Submitted by ckdake on Fri, 07/09/2010 - 09:07
Back for 2010 is Dick Lane Velodrome's Pro Race Series. These events will continue to put a new spin on our previous Festival's of Speed, bringing to the fore-front the best of the best riders that the US has to offer. They'll be pushing the envelope of speed and danger in both hard charging sprint events and grueling endurance races.
This weekend, FM:Race tears up the C and B categories to try and grab enough points to move into first place team overall for the season.
