Faster MustacheFaster Mustache is a progressive non-organization made up of a diverse group of Atlanta residents with one thing in common: riding bicycles. We believe in the power of cyclists to change our communities and our world through ongoing discussion, entertaining events, and positive action. Online and on the road, at work or at play, we challenge everyone to use a bike. It doesn't matter what type: fixed, free, geared, single, cruiser, chopper, racer, or clunker. No two bikes are the same and certainly no two riders are the same, but in the auto-centric city of Atlanta, we have fun
sticking together. Simply put, we invite everyone to bike everywhere with us. Welcome to Faster Mustache! | ![]() |

hess dogs presents: Lucky Sevens Race
Submitted by skiptown on Wed, 05/02/2007 - 19:48The flyer(http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s45/lopan666/777copy.jpg) pretty much says it all. As always with our races be ready for the predictable and the unpredictable. If I were racing i'd slip an ace up my sleve and make sure i brought a couple extra bucks in case the betting gets heavy. Oh and bring a bag to haul your winnings in and a lock to keep them secure. We'd love to have as many people come out to this as possible, there is going to be big suprise at the end of this that isn't likely to stay a secret. But needless to say the race and afterparty are going to be sick!

Inman Park Parade 2007
Submitted by X-topher on Mon, 04/30/2007 - 12:41[G2:24360 n=1 type=selecteditem size=150 class=left]
Faster Mustache made its parade debut this year in the Inman Park Festival Parade. Maptester, X-Topher, Scramber, Eoin, and Dodger turned their bikes into fish and Icki-Nicki piloted the SS Faster Mustache Pirate Ship.
Construction took place all week, with the final assembly happening just before the parade started. They began with cardboard and sharp knives: always a good place to start. Lines were drawn, cuts were made, and nothing fit right, So the mustaches had to go get some duct tape. All better. "The duct tape was really what pulled us out of a jam. It was nice and sticky" - Dodger

Response from the crowd was enthusiastic. Everyone loved the "Ride Bikes, Have Fun!" message. FM business cards were passed out with the rules of the road printed on the back. Children were happy to receive and chew on the papery treat. Parents, upon snatching the cards from their hands and reading the rules, scratched their heads in confusion.
"This whole riding bikes on the street is new to me" - Darryl Hicks, Cobb County Resident.

Eoin brought the 80s back with his rocking D-battery boom box and muscular shades. You couldn't tell where Eoin ended and his fish began! He was one with his striped steed. "I pretty much rocked the entire time." - Eoin
Some of the older people in the crowd were confused, asking "What is the point". Not a single child was confused. Memorable quotes from the little tikes include "Mommy, I like the fishes!" and "Do you have any candy??" to which the fish replied, "No kid, go away. You are already a sticky saccarine mess!".
Asked if they plan on doing it again next year, Scramber the Mustacioed Sailor Princess replied "We will have to wait and see. It was a lot of hard work coming all the way downstairs to work on these. Plus I got sunburnt."
"Probably next year we will use some math and drink less beer so maybe we can have a real float" - Xtopher
FM wants to thank Kraut for his zip tie proficiency and the Faster Fund for paying back steep Utrecht bills.

New front page!
Submitted by ckdake on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 10:48SO yeah. Things are different. There are a lot of blocks on the right now, you can turn most of them off from your account settings if you like. Want something on the front page? I'll promote things as I see fit, if you want something on the front just mention it and I'll think about it. (Other people will be able to do this in the future, and there will be some neat community ways to get things up front)
Before/After big events, etc, if you want to take up your journalistic skills, PLEASE DO! Write something about it, submit it as a story, and those will go into a queue for the front page. Right now comments are off, I can enable them on a per-story basis or for all of them if you like. Thoughts?
(I'm not quite done with the blocks and all yet, but it's gettin there..)
