FM has talked a lot recently about "saving the world" and being more involved in the community--and I think that's a really fabulous goal for us as a group of like-minded people.

So here's a way for you, any of you, to get personally involved with the greater Atlanta community in a cycling sort of way: volunteer at SOPO.

Seriously.

So, somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 activists are coming to Atlanta.

Two very cool parts of the USSF that can use some FM ingenuity and effort are the Big Game and the Bike Brigade. I'll create a few discussion topics and link to them here. They both have discussion forums.

On Tuesday, May 22nd Atlanta Regional Commission will host a Community Open House Workshop to present a summary and draft of the updated Atlanta Region Bicycle Transportation and Pedestrian Walkways Plan. The workshop will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Conversation Pit on the Lower Level of the Atlanta-Fulton County Central Library, One Margaret Mitchell Square, in Downtown Atlanta.

Come out for a debate on peak oil. Is it true or just a lie by bike riding hippies?

Bring facts, drink some, and maybe we'll wonder over to global warming? Someone bring a labtop if they have wireless.

Cyclomania is a party on wheels. After riding hard at the 24hr race we all need to kick back and use our bikes as they were intended to be used. As slow, low impact, bar hopping transportation. This is not a race, and the pace is SLOW. This event is for everyone. So get your non riding friends on a bike and bring them on out. You don't have to drink to ride, but it is highly encouraged.

I’d like to invite you and your customers and your cycling club to participate in the Brownwood Bike Rally, a fun community-wide cycling event for kids and adults! Hosted by the East Atlanta Kids Club, a non-profit community based enrichment program for youth ages 7 – 13, the Brownwood Bike Rally is full of racing for kids and adults complete with a cycling safety bike rodeo, stunt bike show, refreshments and much more.

The flyer(http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s45/lopan666/777copy.jpg) pretty much says it all. As always with our races be ready for the predictable and the unpredictable. If I were racing i'd slip an ace up my sleve and make sure i brought a couple extra bucks in case the betting gets heavy. Oh and bring a bag to haul your winnings in and a lock to keep them secure. We'd love to have as many people come out to this as possible, there is going to be big suprise at the end of this that isn't likely to stay a secret. But needless to say the race and afterparty are going to be sick!
