Hello friends of FM:Race!

Please find at the bottom of this post the magical PDF document that explains the hows and whys of sponsoring the FM:Race team of cycling wizards. If you know of anyone who might like to be a part of our brand, this document will serve to educate, enlighten, and delight.

As you all know, we race in pretty much every cycling discipline that exists. Members of FM can be found anywhere there are bikes. Whether we are helping out, racing hard, or just hanging out, our involvement in 2010 will be every bit as complete.

This presents a great opportunity for the savvy businessperson. We can join forces! The business can to help us defray the costs of traveling far and wide, and in return FM:Race will spread the word about their products.

Our high level of involvement lends us experience, and our experience lends our opinion gravitas. Let us develop some opinions about your products or services!

FM 2010 Sponsorship Guide

As part of the proceeds from FM.24.09, Faster Mustache sent some money to the East Atlanta Kids Club by sponsoring Ann in the Augusta 70.3 triathlon. Here's the note from her:

Dear Chris and the Faster Mustache, premiere sponsors of my “Augusta 70.3 for EAKC” fundraising effort -

Well, it has been almost 2 months since the completion of my race. You were probably wondering what happened to me?!?! Well, my delay in thanking you was partially due to my inability to FIND the pictures from the race. So, at long last – here they are!

Despite my delay, I want to let you know how incredibly grateful I am for the support your group has shown me in this effort. Your support of my crazy triathlon adventure helped raise over $1000 for the East Atlanta Kids Club. You are helping to provide much-needed funding for the continuation of the Kids Club, an incredible organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the youth of Southeast Atlanta.

While I could have covered the distance, you helped make it really MEAN something. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

December 6th, Georgia International Horse Park, Conyers. A marching band playing 'Ride The Lightning' start to finish, singlespeed demo's available by Snyder Bicycles. Course is laid out, and is very spectator friendly. Bring whatever two-wheeler you have, a cooler of beer, and come race.

Psycho Cross was a blast. A big thanks goes out to Jeff Hopkins and all the Volunteers who helped out. I knew this one was going to be a muddy one watching the juniors take hold of the short, but awesome, course. So for those of you who missed out on Psycho Cross, you missed out... It was as much for the spectators as it was for the racers. A good solid heavy rain the morning of left the grounds soggy and muddy, primed for cyclocross. To add the fun was the fact it was held on Halloween. So many racers were wearing costumes, and the ones not on costumes were dressed as cyclists (rim shot). Bruce Dickman kept everyone amused with his antics and race commentary.

Hello All,

Critical Mass is here again and this month it brings the joy of Halloween and Gay Pride Weekend. It's never happened before, and it should never happen again as we should have Pride back where it's supposed to be, in June, seeing how the drought is way over.

I am sending this out to everyone near and far. I ask that you do the same. A lot of my friends and yours will be coming in from out of town. Bring your bikes and let's ride together.

After getting super excited about using an open weekend during cross season to try out an endurance race, Eric and I had abandoned or plan to do drag our children and significant others along for the six hour race on the Wednesday before due to forecasts of bad weather. Eric had sounded pretty dejected on the phone after the decision was made, mumbling something about taking a shower and going to bed, and promptly hanging up. I called Eric the day before the race, and convinced him that we should race the 12 hr. duo, bring the kids along, and trade off riding and watching the tikes.

Thanks for coming out to FM.24.09, and keeping the biggest FM.24 ever a positive, safe, and fun experience! Each year we learn a little bit more and get a few more things right. Some quick fun facts about this year:

• 1788 laps (21456 miles) by 358 riders on 90 teams. Wow!
• Serious competition in all categories from solo riders battling it out with 5 people riding over 300 miles each, to teams of 6 scouring the city to complete missions like "bring a photo back with you and 5 different College entrances," to small groups of riders meeting all over the city for sprint competitions, trick competitions, etc.
• We planned for 250 people, ended up with 350+, and the only capacity problem ended up being that we were short 2 porta-poties somehow. (There were supposed to be 4! Sorry about that!)
• We're not aware of any fire/police/medical emergencies related to FM.24 and even had insurance this year just in case something did go wrong.
• We couldn't have asked for or found a better venue than Elliott Street Pub and Deli. They kept the food cooking, the beer flowing, and morale high throughout the night.
• The tracking system continues to improve and the experience seemed smoother than last year aside from the "lap combining" issue for many teams first few laps. Hopefully we got all of that taken care of.
