Eat. Drink. Sweat. Be Merry.

Partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and a 100 percent chance of margaritas and enchiladas.

But seriously. If it's raining I probably won't go, but we'll see! It's quite likely I'll be there wearing sunscreen and a silly hat, and sitting outside.

EDIT: it is nice out, and I will be there, but given the number of people that signed up I may be a few minutes late getting there and may not stay for hours and hours.

Intown Touring Club ride -- Altanta's Industrial Heritage

Meet at Oakland Cemetery front gate at 10:00am, June 14. We'll circle the city looking at old factories, industrial sites, and discussing the importance of industry in Atlanta's quest for growth in the New South.

As always, very slow no-drop pace with frequent stops for commentating and discussion. Ride should last a few hours and will end with lunch at a local restaurant as selected by riders.

See intowntouring.googlepages.com for more details.

Hola! This ride sponsored by Team Keine Panik! All are welcome to join. I expect the pace will be "moderate" - whatever that means.

We'll meet at Aurora Coffee at 8:30 and leave a little after that to go to the beginning of the Silver Comet Trail, approximately by this route. Depending how we feel we might check out a little of the comet. On the way back we'll meander a little and find a good place to cool off in the hooch.

Feel free to discuss and/or make suggestions.

This event is about young Atlantans and how we can get involved in our communities. We want to answer questions like: How do I find my passion for an issue or issues? What communities are meaningful to me? Is a community a group of people or is it an attitude? How can I become an effective advocate? Am I making noise or making change? or both?

Getting involved in the FM community led me to the greater cycling community, including organizations like sopo, ABC and Special Olympics of GA. Since then I've worked with the beltline and Citizens for Progressive Transit and I realized that transportation equity is what gets me most excited. I'm posting this here because I think FM is full of positive folks with lots of energy and the potential to do a lot of good for our city. I hope that at least one of you will come to Park Tavern next Wednesday and learn how you can make a small but important difference in your world.

There will be food and drink, short speeches, and conversation and networking. There's more info on this Evite. If you want to attend please add yourself to the Evite - it's free and all are welcome but we have limited space. Right now there are 29 spots left. For more info you can email me at gabriel (dot) gsc (at) gmail (dot) com.

We are throwing our Year Anniversary Race. This race is as much about where we have been as where we are going so don't be surprised by a bit of Deja Vu. Riders of any type on any type of bike are welcome, but of course it won't hurt our feelings if you come out riding no brakes. The afterparty is taking place at Lamplighter Cafe with drink specials provided by the brewers of my personal favorite Beer(the rye pale ale). As always racers should come prepared with the usual tools of the trade as well as a couple of extra bucks if not for an extra souvenir during the race than at least for beer at the end.

two fridays after june's critical mass, let's meet up for a "courteous mass."

• everyone will ride no more than two abreast, only taking up the rightmost lane of traffic.
• everyone will also obey all traffic laws (including stop signs!).
• no stopped cars will be passed on the right (unless there is a bike lane).

this should be publicized, not only to bikers, but also to the local media. video cameras are encouraged!

this ride isn't intended as a protest, or as something to piss off motorists. it's simply an experiment. and, of course, another chance to ride bikes!

In order to prepare ourselves for the strenuous activity of watching our bros and brodettes tear it up at Festival of Speed, we are doing a road ride that morning. Meet at A&P at 7:45am to coordinate the carpool down to Silk Sheets where we will ride about 37 miles at a vigorous pace (4 stars fast). The plan is to be back at A&P by noon or noon thirty.

Saturday Festival of Speed
*Bonus Madison Race
Directions

Tickets only $5.00 or $10 per family for Saturday

Pro Racing action starts at 6:00pm on Saturday

Track cycling pushes the envelope of speed and danger in both hard charging sprint events and grueling endurance races. Experience the thrill of the two-man Madison, comparable to tag-team on bike, where teammates exchange positions into the action at 40 mph using the dangerous Madison hand sling. Catch the fast-paced Keirin, an Olympic event where riders are paced up to maximum speed with a motorcycle until the final lap and a half when they tear up the track to the finish. Enjoy a great night out with the family as you get up close and personal with cycling's top athletes! Or come before your big night out-A great place to meet your friends and hang out.

There is a full service concession stand on site for Saturday - all proceeds go back to support the DLV programs.
