Friday May 2, 2008

I know it's really late notice (I didn't even plan on doing it until about 5 minutes ago), but I'm thinking about going down to the track and do some training this evening before Battlestar Galactica comes on (10pm, SciFi). I didn't bring any of my stuff with me, so I have to run home and do some parts switching before going down there, but I should be there by 6:30. If anyone is interested, please sign up or post on the discussion thread (preferably both).

EDIT: It doesn't look like anyone's interested, but if you change your mind give me a call. I'm getting off work a little early today so I'll be down there closer to 5.

Start: 11:59 pm

Let's try this again

Lets see some Friday night lights!

Where Start: Margaret Mitchell Square (top side of Woodruff park in Downtown)
When Start: we launch @ 11pm next friday night (4/18/08)

Lets get together and clean up the track in preparation for the Festival of Speed! This is a great chance to get chummy with the DLV Elders, plus you will earn 5 race points (to help beginners get cat'd up to Wednesday night racing!). From the website:

We're looking to have one more clean-up day before the FoS. If you have the time we could use your help for a few hours in the morning. So put your painter, yard and/or concrete grinder clothes on and head on down....unless it's raining.

Building on last year's success, the 2008 Wheels to Heal Ride will be held on Sunday, May 4, in Columbus, Georgia.

The event is part of the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation Celebrity Classic Weekend Series to be held April 18-21, which also includes signature golf, tennis, 5K, and 10K run events, as well as a spectacular reception for participants and sponsors. The Celebrity Classic Wheels to Heal benefits the John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus, Georgia, a regional cancer center.

If you have never been here before, this will be a great time to visit Georgia and Columbus! Come on down, stay awhile, and enjoy the other great things we have to offer:
• Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center (offering the only tree top canopy exploration trail in the US!)

EVC is a leader in the search to find an HIV/AIDS vaccine. The ActionCycling 200 will provide much needed funding for AIDS vaccine research. The Faster Mustache Mountain Bike Race Team is competing this weekend in Granny Gear's 24 Hours of Conyers. At the site of the first ever (1996) Olympic Mountain Bike Race, we will race for 24 Hours against stiff competition (including Gary Fisher himself). FM:Race Headquarters will be hosting the team, supporters, and guests who want to drop by. Look for the big red canopy with the big white, familiar cog logo plastered on it. Also look for tomfoolery, shenanegannery, horesplay, and overall actin' of the fool.

24 Hour Races are known for their intense competition and festival atmosphere. Come and support the team or bring a six pack and soak up the atmosphere. Stay as little or as long as you like. We will be there all night!

Let's make this a regular thing maybe.

Meet at Estoria 97's parking lot for a 7am departure to Stone Mountain. We'll take Hosea L Williams, Rocky Ford, and then The PATH this time and may do a different route in the future.

Bring some water, some tools, and a bike!

Pace should be 15-17mph average this first go at it and will likely start to pick up in the future.

This is a spandex ride if you're feeling it. I know I'll be!

p.s. I take no accountability for starting your work/school day in a way more awesome than usual way.

Wednesday May 21, 2008

Join me on my ride from East Lake (or wherever you are) to Dick Lane Velodrome.

The route looks like this: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ga/atlanta/958601550202

I plan to leave my house around 6:30, leaving plenty of time to account for traffic lights and other such inconveniences and get to the track by 7:30 for the start of the races.

If you want to join, please let me know where you want to hop on...

Start: 6:30 pm
End: 8:00 pm

Join Atlanta's edition of this national ride of remembrance for fallen cyclists. This is a somber -- and silent -- short ride following this route: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Ride-of-Silence.

We meet at 6:30PM and ride at 7:00 PM.

The national site is http://www.rideofsilence.org/locations-domestic.php?s=GA#GA.

Once again its that time of year when we roast a pig!

If you've been before, you know the drill. If this is new for you, here's the low-down. We will provide one entire pig, roasted, and a large quantity of beer, cold. Please feel free to bring any items that you would enjoy eating with large quantities of pork. In the past, people have brought salads, beans, potato salad, brownies, tofu, cookies, guacamole, salsa, chips etc.

Adrian and I are mountain biking at Sope Creek in Sandy Springs Thursday at 6pm. I know this is late notice but I want to let y'all know in case you are in the area and want to join us.

Adrian is fairly new to Atlanta so this will be both of our first times hitting these trails. We are meeting at the interstate north parking lot at 6: http://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/interstatenorth.htm

If you are coming from Atlanta, please plan plenty of time for traffic, as this is right during rush hour.

It will be dark before we finish so please remember your lights! See you there!

Start: 7:00 pm
End: 10:30 pm

It's that time of the year -- Screen on the Green! This year it's being held at Centennial Olympic Park instead of the usual Piedmont Park. As such, you can't bring your own alcohol; however, it's my understanding that they're selling alcohol there (for $arm+leg). I'll probably try the 'ol wine or sparks in a bottle trick.

This is every Thursday night until the end of June.

This week they're playing Jaws.

Friday May 30, 2008
Start: 7:10 am
End: 9:02 am

you know the drill.
ride your bike.
eat a lot of food.
drink a lot of coffee.
go to work.

It's that time of the month once again. And it's bike month! And it's going to be nice outside and the sun is up longer every day! Go go go!

Start: 8:00 pm
Start: May 30 2008 - 8:00pm
End: May 31 2008 - 1:00am

After Critical Mass, come out to the new collective art studio/performance space/gallery, WonderRoot for a FREE show.

4 bands will be playing, and there will be a bar.

Come out and see Revolutionary Youth (featuring John and Alec of SoPo fame), and Apocalypse Radio (the most fun you can have with a banjo, ukulele, saw, accordion, percussion, and a wind-up radio).

This is one of the last times Phil and Becca will be around before they head back to NYC, so you should come say goodbye if you know them. And if you don't know them, come to introduce yourself and say hello.

Also, Sopo is having its alleycat there the following night, so you can come a day early and learn where the place is.
