If you are interested in catching the FM MTB Race Team in action, this may be your best chance. Ft. Yargo is a large, beautiful state park complete with a big lake. It is about a 1 hour drive from ATL in Winder (on the way to Athens). This race is the third of 8 races in the GSC series, which the FM Race team plans to race all of. It is our 6th XC race so far this year.

Spectators will enjoy several opportunities to see the racing action as well as plenty of time to enjoy the park.

If you are interested in riding in the race, check out goneriding.com to register and send me a note about carpooling.

Don't forget to wear red to show your support!

Start: 9:30 am
End: 11:00 am

This Sunday I'll be training at the track. I know it's early, but I want to be sure I can get back, take a shower, eat lunch, and have a beer in time to watch the Tour de Georgia stage. I'll be taking MARTA down there, so if anyone else is and would like to meet up, mention it in the discussion thread and we can meet up and ride together.

[edit by ck. changed name to make sense]

:::EDIT:::

After looking at the weather for tomorrow, I may not go on account of rain. I don't think there'll be enough time for the rain to dry up in the morning, plus it looks like it'll probably keep raining throughout the morning.

Start: 6:30 pm
End: 9:30 pm

Let's ride to Stone Mountain, hike up, watch the sun set on the city, and ride back for some dinner. Advice: bring non-bike cleat shoes for walking up the mountain. Sunset is 15ish minutes after 8.

*UPDATE 3* Ok, Kurt says the lights work. Let's call it for 6:30 and go for a couple hours. *UPDATE 3*

*UPDATE 2* The lights haven't and won't be fixed so Brian and Pete insist that we restrict practice to daylight hours. individual warmup at 6 (or earlier if you like) and group training from 6:15 until there's not enough light to ride safely. Sorry, no loaner bikes. BYO bike. Contact me to carpool. Possible refreshments to follow. *UPDATE 2*

I know it's really late notice (I didn't even plan on doing it until about 5 minutes ago), but I'm thinking about going down to the track and do some training this evening before Battlestar Galactica comes on (10pm, SciFi). I didn't bring any of my stuff with me, so I have to run home and do some parts switching before going down there, but I should be there by 6:30. If anyone is interested, please sign up or post on the discussion thread (preferably both).

EDIT: It doesn't look like anyone's interested, but if you change your mind give me a call. I'm getting off work a little early today so I'll be down there closer to 5.

Start: 11:59 pm

Lets get together and clean up the track in preparation for the Festival of Speed! This is a great chance to get chummy with the DLV Elders, plus you will earn 5 race points (to help beginners get cat'd up to Wednesday night racing!). From the website:

We're looking to have one more clean-up day before the FoS. If you have the time we could use your help for a few hours in the morning. So put your painter, yard and/or concrete grinder clothes on and head on down....unless it's raining.

Building on last year's success, the 2008 Wheels to Heal Ride will be held on Sunday, May 4, in Columbus, Georgia.

The event is part of the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation Celebrity Classic Weekend Series to be held April 18-21, which also includes signature golf, tennis, 5K, and 10K run events, as well as a spectacular reception for participants and sponsors. The Celebrity Classic Wheels to Heal benefits the John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus, Georgia, a regional cancer center.

If you have never been here before, this will be a great time to visit Georgia and Columbus! Come on down, stay awhile, and enjoy the other great things we have to offer:
• Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center (offering the only tree top canopy exploration trail in the US!)

We've put in hundreds of hours over 4 months to bring you Apocalypse Briggs. We feel the only suitable way to honor and celebrate this huge effort is to have a premiere party. The Pickup Artist premiere was great: laughs, drinks, three-way kisses. Apocalypse Briggs premiere: #1.

What to expect: We're premiering our 30-minute movie for Apocalypse Briggs. Check out the TRAILER. We'll also be showing two other shorts we made just for this premiere ... just to warm you up. Yum.

Action Cycling Atlanta proudly offers you the opportunity to enjoy a scenic and challenging 200-mile bike ride on May 17-18, 2008. The Faster Mustache Mountain Bike Race Team is competing this weekend in Granny Gear's 24 Hours of Conyers. At the site of the first ever (1996) Olympic Mountain Bike Race, we will race for 24 Hours against stiff competition (including Gary Fisher himself). FM:Race Headquarters will be hosting the team, supporters, and guests who want to drop by. Look for the big red canopy with the big white, familiar cog logo plastered on it. Also look for tomfoolery, shenanegannery, horesplay, and overall actin' of the fool.

24 Hour Races are known for their intense competition and festival atmosphere. Come and support the team or bring a six pack and soak up the atmosphere. Stay as little or as long as you like. We will be there all night!

Let's make this a regular thing maybe.

Meet at Estoria 97's parking lot for a 7am departure to Stone Mountain. We'll take Hosea L Williams, Rocky Ford, and then The PATH this time and may do a different route in the future.

Bring some water, some tools, and a bike!

Pace should be 15-17mph average this first go at it and will likely start to pick up in the future.

This is a spandex ride if you're feeling it. I know I'll be!

p.s. I take no accountability for starting your work/school day in a way more awesome than usual way.

Join me on my ride from East Lake (or wherever you are) to Dick Lane Velodrome.

The route looks like this: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ga/atlanta/958601550202

If you want to join, please let me know where you want to hop on...

Start: 6:30 pm

Join Atlanta's edition of this national ride of remembrance for fallen cyclists. This is a somber -- and silent -- short ride following this route: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Ride-of-Silence.

We meet at 6:30PM and ride at 7:00 PM.
